Monkey

Another new addition- the jungle is becoming inhabited. I am going to work on the larger of the two walls (the 30 ft one) this weekend. All the images thus far are for the 20ft wall which is seen immediately upon entering the center. I am also thinking of moving the parrot to the larger wall.

Chameleon

This guy was fun! He can't wait to find his new home! I also added some shadow - trying to see what is possible for depth!

Let the Healing Begin!

This project is one of such enormous magnitude - the efforts which are extended will be long lasting- in that future children will be able to reap the rewards of all of the hard work and dedication that everyone involved had shown well after the work is done.

"Rejuvenate"

This color is called "Rejuvenate", the other, "Cloudy Day" both chosen for their soft hues and calming attributes. This is Justin and I, who worked together this past Saturday to see that the painting of the rooms got finished.

"Cloudy Day"

So the painting has officially begun! Although not on the mural yet - this color is being added to the forensic interview rooms. Similarly, the rooms were whiter than white, so the staff chose calming colors to aide in the interviewees feeling more comfortable.

Rain Forest Progress

Still working on adding, re-sketching, lengthening, etc....to get this initial wall ready to be started on in the next few weeks! I also just received an email from liquitex saying that they were sending a box of acrylic paints for the mural! Also there are some other people who have voiced a willingness to help with the painting stages!! Looks like this may be happening sooner than later after all!

Purposeful

The purpose of this project is to promote the healing of children who are beginning their treatment at the Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County. My role in all of this is to develop and transfer mural designs with Earth being the theme. This will make the child's visit to the center more inviting, as the walls now are very white and institutional feeling. I have started on the sketches, which will be transfered and painted. This will not only be done by myself, but I am hoping to also have other art professionals, art education majors as well as members of the community help to see it though to it's fruition!
